CL&E to Success: Showcasing MORSL

Our director, Carlene Gardner, recently sat down with Caitlin, the Undergraduate Orientation Programs Coordinator for Campus Life and Engagement (CL&E) to introduce new students to all the services, supports, and resources that MORSL offers. In this brief interview, Carlene highlights how MORSL engages in religious literacy, spiritual development, and personal growth through our workshops, events, and multifaith community network.

You can watch the full interview on the CL&E YouTube channel here and check out the whole series to learn more about McGill Student Services.

Summer Reading List

As we enter into the mid-summer lull, and bask in the glow of heat and humidity, you might find yourself looking for a book to accompany these lingering days. In addition to our online Spirituality and Wellness library, here's an additional selection of verse and prose that has sparked our interest this summer.

All Along You Were Blooming

Morgan Harper Nichols

A celebration of hope. An encounter with grace. A restoration of the heart. A healing of wounds. An anthem of freedom. All Along You Were Blooming is a striking collection of illustrated poetry and prose, inviting you to "stumble into the sunlight" and delight in the wild and boundless grace you've been given.

Thirst: Seeking God When All Seems Lost

Christian Bosse

Thirst is a poetry collection teeming with poems, psalms, and inspirational prose that inspires you to remain hopeful in seasons of suffering. In the midst of chaos and calamity, cry out to God.

We Have Always Been Here: A Queer Muslim Memoir

Samra Habib

Triumphant memoir of forgiveness and family, both chosen and not, We Have Always Been Here is a rallying cry for anyone who has ever felt out of place and a testament to the power of fearlessly inhabiting one's truest self.

The Skin We're In: A Year of Black Resistance and Power

Desmond Cole

A bracing, provocative, and perspective-shifting book from one of Canada's most celebrated and uncompromising writers, Desmond Cole. The Skin We're In will spark a national conversation, influence policy, and inspire activists.

In order to rise from its own ashes, a Phoenix first must burn.

— Octavia Butler (1947 - 2006)
