Our second issue of My Healthy Workplace News brings with it...monthly themes! Each theme will be accompanied by resources, strategies, tips and events. For July, with summer fully upon us, let's explore the theme of happiness!


Enjoy lunch-hour learning proven approaches to increasing happiness in your own life with events like The How of HappinessThe Motivation Equation: How Goals can be used to Make our Lives Better, or join us in the Seven-Day Happiness Challenge.

This issue also highlights the My Healthy Workplace Learning Community launch event held on May 7th with our MHW Sponsor, Vice-Principal, Administration and Finance, Yves Beauchamp. Staff, who are members of the 5 Learning Communities pitched their ideas for positive change and received constructive feedback from a Dragon's Den style panel. These developing ideas are scheduled to be finalized by the end of 2019. Read more below.

My Healthy Workplace Learning Communities Event on May 7th


The 5 My Healthy Workplace LEARNING COMMUNITIES kicked off with gusto on May 7th at the Faculty Club – a first opportunity for some 60 participants to meet their Sponsor V.P. Yves Beauchamp. Excited to connect with our dynamic MHW Sponsor who will be vetting their projects, few expected to be presenting their ideas to a Dragons' Den as well. Our playful and wise Dragons (members of the MHW Working Group) provided challenging, positive reinforcement and just the right dose of sound McGill advice to maximize project success. Click here to learn more.

Making the Connection: Happy Employees, Happy Clients

Spotlight: McGill Happiness Researcher 


Christopher Barrington-Leigh is an Associate Professor at McGill's Institute for Health and Social Policy and the McGill School of Environment, and an Associate Member in McGill's Department of Economics. One of his four areas of research focuses on the economics of happiness. In a recent article in Psychology Today, he writes about what world happiness will look like in 2050. Prof. Barrington-Leigh also maps out life satisfaction data in an interactive map, click here to read more.

Monthly Health and Well-Being Challenges

The Health and Well-being team in Human Resources invites McGill employees to participate in monthly challenges related to health and well-being.


For July, add some healthy competition to your life and participate in the 7 Day Happiness Challenge by participating in four simple science-backed actions over the course of one week to boost your happiness. Document your experience and send your record back to us by July 22 to have your name in a draw for a book on happiness!


Each month will have a dedicated theme related to Health and Well-Being and will invite you to participate in a challenge related to that theme.
