The report provides an update on Corporate Activities and Initiatives, progress made on the 2019-2022 Board and Corporate Priorities, Corporate Climate Action Initiatives, Capital Project Variances, and Human Resource Trends across the organization.

CRD External Grants Update
The Board received the External Grants update for information. The update outlines how the CRD continues to integrate and consider grant opportunities relative to service needs, as well as informs local partners of opportunities through the grants dashboard. The CRD will continue to provide a summary of activities and outcomes in the External Grants Update on a monthly basis.

Financial Plan Amendment
The Board adopted an amendment to the 2020 to 2024 Financial Plan Bylaw No. 4349, which was approved by the Board on March 18, 2020. In compliance with the Local Government Act, the proposed amending Bylaw No. 4354 authorizes the changes required for revised operating expenditures related to corporate emergency and the electoral area emergency program to be funded from reserves and recoveries from the Province, where eligible.

CRD’s response to COVID-19
In response to the COVID-19 public health emergency, Committee and Commission meetings are suspended until further notice, with essential items going directly to the CRD Board. The CRD Board will be meeting on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month, and Commissions will meet only to consider essential business.
The CRD Board Procedures Bylaw was recently amended to permit electronic-only participation in meetings. In order to ensure physical distancing and in keeping with recent directives from the Province of BC, the public is no longer able to attend these meetings. Written submissions are being encouraged, and agendas and minutes will continue to be posted.
CRD Board meetings are not being live webcast at this time; audio only will be posted after the meeting. The audio recording for the April 8, 2020 Board meeting is available on the CRD website.
