Dr. Ralph Silverstone Award goes to Dr. de Vreeze


Congratulations to Dr. Laura de Vreeze, BScN ’76, DMD ’86, on selected as the recipient of this year’s Dr. Ralph Silverstone Award. This award recognises outstanding contributions by a clinical or laboratory supervisor teaching in the DMD program.

Dr. Al-Waeli to represent Canada in the 2018 Hatton Competition

Congratulations to Dr. Haider Al-Waeli on placing first in the CADR-NCOHR Student Research Competition. His entry placed first in the Senior Clinical Science category and was selected for entry in the IADR/Unilever Hatton Competition in London, England in July 2018.

11th Run for Outreach

On September 30, 2017 a record number of participants gathered at the foot of Mount Royal to support the Faculty’s Service to the Community program raising over 7000$. Dr. Moreau wins 3M Oral Care Graduate Student Award

Congratulations to Dr. Anne-Marie Moreau, former GPR resident at the MCH, and co-authors for winning 1st prize in the 3M Oral Care Graduate Student Research Award presented at the AM of the Canadian Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. She presented her project “Oral health status of refugee children in Canada” under the supervision of Drs. Beatriz Ferraz dos Santos and Basma Dabbagh.

$5.2M invested in the fight to strengthen men's social connections

Dr. Richard Hovey’s project Homebase was one of 13 pilot projects selected as part of the Social Innovation Challenge, funded by the Movember Foundation. The projects aim to strengthening social connections for boys and men across Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

Homebase is a research project designed to provoke social-relational interactions for men participating in chronic pain support groups: confronting suffering by disrupting the social isolation trajectory. Homebase will officially launch in the next months. 








Oral Cancer Awareness Project


Drs. Nick Makhoul and Michel El-Hakim participated in an Oral Cancer film project documentary, designed to drive awareness of oral cancer and increasing education to the public. See the video here.



Homecoming 2017!
