A look back at the 17th Annual White Coat Ceremony

The 17th Annual White Coat Ceremony and Awards Evening was held at the Redpath Hall on the evening of September 12, 2018. The ceremony marks the transition from classroom to clinic, from text book learning to hands-on learning and this year’s ceremony was bursting with emotion and excitement as third year students dawned their White Coats and took their pledge. Dean Emami and Dr. Allison appointed by CIHR

The Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR) appointed two Faculty of Dentistry members to play a vital role in helping shape health research that changes the lives of Canadians across the country. Dr. Taras Konanec receives Silverstone Award

This year’s Dr. Ralph Silverstone Teaching Award has been awarded to Dr. Taras Konanec, DMD '97 who is in his 20th year of teaching in the Faculty of Dentistry. This award recognises outstanding contributions by a clinical or laboratory supervisor who teaches in the DMD program. Continue reading.

12th Annual Run for Outreach

On September 29, 2018 a large crowd gathered at the foot of Mount Royal to support the Faculty’s Service to the Community program. The 12th annual Run for Outreach was a great success with lovely weather and a great ambiance. The run is still trying to reach its goal of $8000 to help provide dental care for Montrealers in need. Consider giving to this great cause today!

Sharing Knowledge with Oral Health Professionals Worldwide

Many of our Faculty members celebrated a book recently published entitled Mandibular Implant Prostheses: Guidelines for Edentulous Geriatric Populations. Edited by Dean Elham Emami and Professor Jocelyne Feine, it is the fruit of a collaboration amongst McGill’s faculty members and other leading researchers in the field. Continue reading

COMMUNITY INITIATIVES

In fall 2014, the Fondation de l’Ordre des dentistes du Québec set up the Bouche B project, a major pro bono initiative destined to benefit people in the entire province. The project is designed to assist people from disadvantaged communities who require access to urgent dental care. Find out how you can take part and give back here.

Benefit information sessions are back this fall

Starting on September 27 (12:00 to 1:30 p.m.), benefit plan members can learn how their McGill benefits can help them address – or avoid – a wide range of health and financial issues. Common benefit questions will be addressed such as “How do I change my coverage,” “What are the limitations of my medical travel insurance,” and more. Register and get more information online.
