Research day

The Faculty of Dentistry Research Day provides an excellent opportunity for graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, research assistants, research associates and residents to showcase their research work in academic posters and oral presentations. Held on April 4, 2018 at New Residence Hall this year was the 13th edition of Research Day. Read more here.




Outreach gala

The Mystery Masquerade Outreach Gala went above and beyond this year hosting an unforgettable night. The year’s event was the largest gala to date, with 248 guests on hand. The event generated $11,609 to donate to the Service to the Community fund in support of our mobile and satellite clinics. Continue reading and see photos from the evening here. Read more here.




Winners of the BMS research paper announced

Congratulations to Juliana Marulanda, Betty Hoac and Omar Alageel for being selected as the best research paper of the year in the Division of Biomedical Sciences. Every year the division organizes the competition for students who have published an original paper in a peer-reviewed journal. The winners were announced at the Annual Research Day in last week. See the winners.




Bravo gala celebrates McGill scholars and researchers

On March 15, the Office of the Vice-Principal (Research and Innovation) celebrated McGill’s top researchers at the annual Bravo gala, an event honouring McGill researchers and scholars across disciplines who won special awards, memberships and prizes during the preceding year. Approximately 230 guests were welcomed. Read the article. 




In memoriam: Dr. Hervé Le Moual (1959-2018)

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the sudden passing of Dr. Hervé Le Moual on Saturday, March 3, 2018. Hervé spent 17 years at the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at McGill University. He will be remembered as a scholar in the truest sense of the word: he was a passionate scientist, a wonderful colleague, a dedicated teacher and an excellent mentor and coach of his trainees. He will be greatly missed by the McGill and whole Montreal scientific community. Read more here. 





Bahar Madani, DMD Class of 2018

“I had braces for 3 years and I hated it for most of the time that I had them. But the day that I got them removed, I was at my orthodontist’s office and they had put up the picture of the day I got my braces) on the computer screen. I was looking at myself in the mirror and I was looking at that photo…I couldn’t believe what a difference it had made in my face and my confidence. I was that sort of kid that would never smile with my teeth. I would always cover my mouth and I just thought wow, what a difference this is going to make in the rest of my life. And I just decided at that moment, this is how I want to make people feel in what I do. I want to do this.’’ Listen to the podcast here.





Michelle Dion Retires

Michelle Dion, Assistant to the Dean, recently announced that she will be retiring after eight years with the Faculty. During her time with the Faculty Michelle has been in charge of organizing numerous committees and events, and assisting the Dean in his tasks.Michelle will be remembered for her positive attitude and her dedication and service to the Faculty. Continue reading. 





2018 Most Valuable Person Award Nominations 

It’s time to nominate the 2018 Most Valuable Person award to a deserving member of the Faculty of Dentistry staff. This is a great opportunity to have a colleagues recognized at the Staff Dinner for their outstanding contributions to the Faculty.  All salaried staff are invited to submit nominations for the Most Valuable Person Award to the attention of Dean Allison by Thursday, April 20, 2018 at 5 p.m.  Please refer to the procedure and nomination form to ensure you send a complete nomination.
