Dr. Ken Bentley Wins Canadian Dental Association Medal of Honour

Dr. Kenneth (Ken) C. Bentley, former Dean of the McGill Faculty of Dentistry (1977-1987), was honoured at the last Canadian Dental Association Annual Meeting with the prestigious CDA Medal of Honour. Dr. Bentley’s slew of achievements have without a doubt greatly shaped our Faculty. Read more about Dr. Bentley’s accomplishments here


Division of Biomedical Sciences ‘Best Papers 2015′ Competition Winners Announced

The Division of Biomedical Sciences announces the winners of the Best Papers 2015 competition. The best three papers (by a graduate student) are chosen by the BMS Executive Committee. Judging criteria was quality of the data, quality of the journal, and potential impact of the findings. Find out who the winners are here.


Roast 2016 in Pictures

Held at Saint-James Theatre in the Old Port of Montreal, this year's Roast was a success. Dresses, drinks and dancing accompanied the videos handcrafted by the students. Read a heartfelt message from the graduating class, and some photos from the event here.

 


Throwback: American Association of Dental Schools First Annual Meeting

Held March 5-7, 1924 at the Congress Hotel in Chicago, Illinois, the first annual meeting of the American Association of Dental Schools was packed with lectures, reports, a symposium and a round table conference. Regenerative medicine: biomaterial scientists converge on Montreal

What if cartilage could be made to repair itself without invasive procedures to knee or hip joints? Internal organs could be printed on a 3D printer? It may sound like program notes for a science fiction film festival, but no, these topics are part of the 10th World Biomaterials Congress underway in Montreal this week. Top 10 countries for university education

With three universities in the top 50 world rankings, Canada makes it into the top five countries for higher education, according to QS. McGill University ranks in 24th, while the University of Toronto features in 34th and the University of British Columbia scrapes into the top 50. Canada can often prove a cheaper alternative to US study and involves a simpler application process. Read more in The Telegraph.

The CIHR Pathways Implementation Research Team (IRT) Grant funding opportunity (Component 2, 2016) supports population health interventions that have the potential to impact health and health equity at a population level across the life course. To apply, visit Team Grant: Pathways IRT - Component 2 (2016).The deadline for submitting a full application is October 4, 2016.

NCOHR has grant preparation funds available to support researchers to prepare research grants submissions at the national or international level. The focus of the grant submission must be oral health. No submission deadline.
