Mary King

Retired colleague Mary King

Our colleague, Mary King retired this summer and offered us a few thoughts before going on to the next chapter in her life. We wish her all the best.

What is your favorite Memory at McGill?
I have memories that go back to 2004 when we had The 100th year Gala party at Centre Mont Royal.  I had a blast dancing the night away.

What are you most looking forward to having more time to do?
I will join an organization that will allow me to go and keep company with the people who are older than me (who are not that much older). I feel fortunate that I still have my health both physically and mentally.  I would like to read to them and if possible go with them for a walk. I could clean their house or residence. Shop for them or take them shopping, etc. etc. I will join a bowling league, go for walks, and talk the talk.

What are you most looking forward to having more time to do?
The most important things I have learned after 50 years of working is that you never know when to stop. I’m like the duracelle bunny, I keep on ticking. On a more serious note, I have learned how important it is to be punctual, do your job to the best of your ability, be kind and show respect to everyone. Although I know you can’t get along with everyone, you do your best. Many hands make work light.  I feel you should love all, you don’t have to like them or what they do. I’ve also learned that life goes by too fast, before you know it you’re too old, but never too old to do the things you want to do without regrets.

I would like to say that I really enjoyed working, I am going to miss all of you. I wish you all good health, happiness and prosperity.

Bye for now,

Mary King

New Colleagues

A message from Dean Allison

Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Diana Sarai as Manager of Clinic Administration. Diana, who is currently Institute Administrator at the Institute of Cancer Research, based at McGill University's Faculty of Medicine, will be taking over from Joanne Chouinard, who recently retired.  She has excellent experience in finance, HR, project management, fund-raising and speaks several languages. Her first day at the hospital will be September 16th. Welcome to the team, Diana!

In addition, I would like to welcome Celine Ash as a new dental assistant working full time for the Faculty starting Wednesday, September 11th. Celine comes to us with 18 years' experience in dental assisting, having worked in general practice and an endodontics specialist practice.

Finally, I would like also to confirm as many of you already know, that Bibiane Gagnon will be replacing Nathalie Marsolais while the latter is on leave. Of course, Bibiane has worked with the Faculty before so already knows us well.

I'm sure you all join me in welcoming Diana, Celine and Bibiane.

Dean Allison

Please also consult the new organograms for changes in the academic support team structure and the clinical affairs structure.

Thank you Mary Farmus, for this week’s cartoon!
