Student Spotlight – Anthony Rossi ready for year ahead as President of the DSS

Anthony Rossi is set to assume the position of President of the Dental Student Society. After finishing his DEC at John Abbott College, Anthony was accepted into the Dent-P Program and has volunteered his time and knowledge ever since. With his varied experiences and strong sense of leadership, he has big plans as President. I sat down with him to talk about next year. Read the interview here


Dr. Bruce Dobby recognized for years of outstanding service to the University 

Dr. Bruce Dobby, Outreach Program Co-Director, was recognized for years of unwavering dedication and commitment to the Faculty, University and Montreal community. Dr. Dobby was awarded the Distinguished Service Award at this year’s McGill Alumni Association Honours and Awards Banquet. Congratulations Dr. Dobby for this well-deserved award! Outstanding Alumnus Award goes to Dr. Melvin Schwartz

Congratulations to this year’s winner of the Faculty of Dentistry Outstanding Alumnus Award Dr. Mel Schwartz, Chief of the Dental Department at the Jewish General Hospital! Dr. Schwartz has provided and continues to provide outstanding service to the residents, patients and colleagues who visit and work at the JGH. Read the full story here


Drs. Lesley Bergman and Sarah Lachine receive the Dr. Mel Schwartz Award for Excellent Patient Care in the GPR Program 

Congratulations to both Drs. Lesley Bergman (McGill DMD 2014) and Sarah Lachaine for the outstanding work they have done in the GPR Program this year. The award, given to both doctors, recognizes the excellent quality of clinical care they have provided to patients as a dental resident. Read the full story here.


Au revoir! Dr. Dagenais accepts full time position with the NDEB

Dr. Marie Dagenais has recently announced that she will be leaving the Faculty for a new venture with the National Dental Examining Board (NDEB) in Ottawa. Dr. Dagenais will assume the position of Director of Examinations and Credential Verification. Over the last nearly 30 years she has had a large impact on the Faculty and will be sorely missed. Celine Ash and Nikoo Taghavi awarded Most Valuable Person Award

Congratulations to Celine Ash and Nikoo Taghavi for being awarded the Faculty’s Most Valuable Person Award. Both have been selected for their outstanding contributions to the Faculty. Celine and Nikoo have been central to much of the efforts as the Faculty has undergone tremendous change over the past year. Read the full story here


Dr. René St-Arnaud, Associate Faculty Member, appointed as Director of Research of Shriners Hospitals 

Congratulation to Dr. René St- Arnaud for being appointed as Director of Research of Shriners Hospitals for Children® – Canada. Appointed Acting Director of Research in 2011. Dr. St-Arnaud also holds cross-appointments as a tenured Full Professor of Medicine, Surgery, and Human Genetics at McGill University, where he is also cross-appointed to the Faculty of Dentistry.
