Winners of the BMS Best Research Paper competition announced

Every year the Division of Biomedical Sciences of Faculty of Dentistry organizes Best Research Papers competition for current graduate students in the Faculty who have published an original paper in the field of biomedical sciences in a peer-reviewed journal. See who won this year’s best papers.


McGill well represented at IADR Annual Meeting

The International Association for Dental Research (IADR) held its Annual Meeting and Exhibition in San Francisco from March 22 – March 25. McGill was well represented by faculty members, post-docs, graduate and undergraduate students. See who attended and the papers presented.


Dr. Iera travels to Vietnam to treat Cleft Lip and Palate

Dr. Deborah Iera took some time away from her duties in Montreal last month to tend to the needs of children with cleft lip and palate in Vietnam. For Dr. Iera, Director of the Undergraduate OMFS Program, the trip was a wonderful experience. “It was great to bring extra medical help to Vietnam,” she says. Read about her mission here.


Save the Date: Celebrating the Hall of Honour

In 1969, the Hall of Honour was created to recognise distinguished contributors to the welfare and advancement of the Faculty in a significant and continuous way. On May 18, 2017 at 5pm we will be re-inaugurating the Hall of Honour in our new facility and inducting two new honourees. Please join us for an evening of celebration and remembrance of the great people that have helped shaped our Faculty. Learn more about this initiative. 


Dr. Malkinson Wins Award at Hinman Dental Meeting

Congratulations to Dr. Sam Malkinson who won the Best in Session Award for the Table Clinics at the recent Hinman Dental Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Malkinson gave his presentation “Decision-making at Evaluation of Initial Periodontal Therapy”.

2017 Most Valuable Person Award Nominations 

It’s time to nominate the 2017 Most Valuable Person award to a deserving member of the Faculty of Dentistry staff. This is a great opportunity to have a colleagues recognized at the Staff Dinner for their outstanding contributions to the Faculty.

All salaried staff are invited to submit nominations for the Most Valuable Person Award to the attention of Dean Allison by Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 5 p.m.  Please refer to the procedure to ensure you send a complete nomination.
