Dr. Greenwald selected for the W.W. Wood Award for Excellence in Dental Education

Congratulations to Dr. Susan Greenwald, DDS ’86, for being awarded the W.W. Wood Award for Excellence in Dental Education! “I am extremely humbled and honoured to have received this award,” says Dr. Greenwald. “I get just as much out of my time teaching the students as they get from me. Special Olympics Quebec attends the Clinic

On Wednesday, May 10th the pediatric clinic welcomed the Quebec Special Olympics school program. 20 students from the Centre François-Michelle, living with intellectual deficiency were screened by 3rd year students and participated in a Zumba class. The day was a great success for everyone that participated. Here are some pictures from the day.

2D-CrstaLab selected to participate in McGill X-1 Accelerator

Postdoctoral fellow Dr. Ashwaq Al-Hashedi company, 2-D CrystaLab, has been selected to participate in the McGill X-1 Accelerator Program. The fruits of seven years of research work in Dr. Faleh Tamimi’s lab (Tamimi is a co-founder for the company), 2D-CrystaLab manufactures a toothpaste (2D-Implantcare) specifically designed for cleaning dental implants. The Smiles We Made… in Jamaica mon!

Anthea Chang, Vanessa Del Vecchio and Sonia Rampersad, 3rd year undergraduate dental students, recently returned from an incredible dental experience in Jamaica hosted by Great Shape! Inc., a charitable organisation that provides education and dental and eye care to thousands of Jamaicans. “It was tremendously rewarding to save a child’s permanent first molars, restore a complete smile to a woman who broke her two front teeth, or to simply create a positive first dental visit for a young and impressionable patient.” Read about their trip.


The Winning Smile / Le Sourire Gagnant

Dr. Julie Drakoulakou was at the CLSC Parc Extension on Wednesday, May 3 for and Oral Health Awareness Playshop. Morning and afternoon workshops were filled with fun activities to learn the importance of oral health, nutrition, oral hygiene and dental visits. The day was geared towards pre-natal, infant and toddler care and participants were from Quebec, India, Sri Lanka, Greece, Turkey and Serbia. See pictures from the workshops.
