New Structure for Research Seminars
Dear Colleagues,
We are excited to announce a new format for the 2013 / 2014 Advanced Research Seminars that we have held previously as single, isolated seminars as part of our seminar series. Our seminar series has been transformed into a series of four, whole-morning research Workshops that we will be piloting over the next year. This new format is geared towards a student-centred, theme-based research approach with emphasis on interdisciplinary methodology. Typically (although there may be exceptions) there will be 2-4 invited speakers including a basic scientist, a clinician and a patient or other stakeholder (where possible). Although the new format will feature fewer individual presentations over the entire year, it will still focus on all of our 4 core research areas. The first two will be held this Fall (2013), and the next two during the Winter 2014 term.
Hold the dates:
The very first of our seminars/workshops will take place on Friday October 25th (9am-noon) and will feature Pain and Neurosciences Research.
Our second workshop will take place on Thursday December 12th (9am-noon) and will feature Mineralized Tissues and Extracellular Matrix Biology Research.
Please note that each seminar will run from 9am until 12 noon in Room M/48 (Strathcona Building) with presentations from invited speakers followed by a lunch and discussion. Please save these dates with their new duration.
Read the details of the vision and structure for the Workshops and themes here.
Thank you,
Dr. Richard Hovey (Workshop Coordinator) and Dr. Marc McKee (Assoc. Dean Research)

Summer Clinic with Romantha Descartes, September 26th, 2013
Successful projects that impact many lives are most often possible thanks to the collective effort of many dedicated individuals - many who work diligently in the background without notice - the humble individuals that are focused on the common goal and driven by a strong work ethic. Romantha Descartes, Patient Service Coordinator at the Faculty’s Undergraduate clinic, is one of these individuals. Listen to the audio interview
