About The Extension Method™: The Extension Method™, established in 2003 by Jennifer Nichols, is an elite ballet fitness program. What began with a theoretical investigation into ballet's potential application to sport quickly evolved into an innovative collaboration of classical ballet and fitness standards, designed to impart the the posture, ease of movement, and sculpted physique of a dancer. The Extension Method™ is adapted for both group sessions and individually tailored programs, and is an accessible workout for everyone, regardless of dance or fitness background. Jennifer Nichols, founder of The Extension Method™ and owner of The Extension Room, is a choreographer, director, and professional dancer. She is also Co-Owner of the ballet/surf retreat company, Point Break Retreats (named #1 Wellness Retreat by Harper's Bazaar), and Co-Artistic Director of the dance entertainment firm Hit and Run Dance Productions.
Originally from Collingwood, Ontario, Nichols received her professional classical ballet training from the Quinte Ballet School and L'Ecole Superieure de Danse du Québec, and post graduate studies with Ballet BC. She has danced professionally for such companies as Opera Atelier, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, and Banff Festival Dance. She also holds extensive choreography and performance credits, including Toronto Summer Music Festival- L'Histoire du Soldat' (2018), Oregon Music Festival- 'Seven Deadly Sins' (2018), Esprit Orchestra- world premiere 'Lilt' (2018), Against the Grain Theatre- 'Messiah' (2015,2016) and has been commissioned as a choreographer and dancer for the Art Gallery of Ontario, Canadian Art Song Project, and more. Jennifer's burgeoning career as a director includes work for Canada's renowned Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra. As a choreographer for television and film, her credits include CBS 'Reign', DC Network 'Titans', and Global TV 'Mary Kills People', among others.
Since Nichols' development of The Extension Method™ in 2003, the program's acclaim and exposure have spread throughout Toronto and across Canada. The Extension Method™ has been featured in various high profile publications such as The Toronto Star, Snowboard Canada, BlogTO and The Globe and Mail. She has also appeared as a guest fitness expert on CBC's 'The Goods' and CP24's 'Breakfast Television'.
