Experience the future of agriculture and top-quality wine with Rooftop Reds. Located in the heart of Brooklyn, Rooftop Reds produces world class wines that spearhead the innovative New York State wine market, while creating a new generation of vitaculture enthusiasts. With the assistance of Finger Lakes industry leaders and Cornell University, Rooftop Reds has developed an urban planter system that is the first of its kind. Forty-two state-of-the-art planters fill their 14,800 square-foot rooftop at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Through these planters comes the production of a sustainable and completely Brooklyn vintage.

Rooftop Reds' exceptional wines are sold at seventeen wineshops throughout the New York area and are available to enjoy at thirty-seven restaurants.  Further details can be found on their website.  In addition to great wine, Rooftop Reds likes to get involved in their community.  Rooftop Reds knows that sometimes you are craving more than just wine, thats why they offer a selection of quality sandwiches from Wednesday - Sunday on a first come first serve basis.  These sandwiches come in an Italian or Chicken Salad variety.  All sandwiches are made from scratch from Grape and Grain, a rustic inspired, highly popular and quality-sustainable restaurant located in the East Village of New York City.


About: Devin, the founder of Rooftop Reds, came from an entrepreneurial background before establishing Rooftop Reds while a viticulture student. After obtaining a marketing degree at George Mason University, Devin’s employment history focused on business development, sales management and event coordination. 
In 2010 Devin moved to Shenzhen, China for three months and built a successful swim school with his eldest brother, David Shomaker.  From a small one-pool endeavor, this venture has grown into a city wide, multiple-pool program now teaching nearly 2,000 Chinese youths.  Afterwards, Devin moved to Washington DC where he assisted several startups while leading their sales production and business relation efforts. 
Two years later Devin decided to take his career in a very different direction; he enrolled in Finger Lakes Community College’s Viticulture and Wine Technology program in The Finger Lakes region of Western New York State.  This higher-education foray into the wine industry inspired Devin to form Rooftop Reds.  After graduation, Devin has been growing a robust network of collaborators and enthusiasts for Rooftop Reds.  Rooftop Reds officially opened to the public in April 2016 in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
