7. Pretty in the City
With the busiest months of the year quickly approaching, it's time to start prepping yourself for a low-maintenance beauty routine. Let's face it— while we all want to look our best through the school year, applying a full face of makeup every morning isn't always feasible. Luckily, Pretty in the City has got you covered with bespoke long-lasting lash and brow services to enhance, compliment, and balance the symmetry of your face. Offering eyelash extensions, microblading, ombre powder brows, eyeliner tattoos, brow shaping, and more, you can ditch the brow pencils and mascara, and achieve the low-maintenance, fresh-faced look that we all strive for. As Toronto's most trusted beauty boutique, Pretty in the City will be sure to have you looking bright and beautiful from the moment you wake up until the moment you go to sleep.
Eyelash Extensions
At Pretty in the City, their artists are highly skilled at creating natural looking sets of lash extensions that last. When done right, lash extensions are every girl's best accessory. Using special tweezers to apply lash extensions expertly to each individual natural lash, PIC's extension sets will allow you to wake up look effortlessly gorgeous every day, without ever appearing over-done. While they offer several different services for lashes, such as the Classic Natural set and Volume Superlush set, our favourite option for fall is the new Hybrid set. Pretty in the City's Hybrid lash extensions are a combination of the Classic and Volume sets— creating beautiful and noticeable results, without being over the top.
Microblading is a relatively new technique to North America. Using a manual hand tool, your artist will etch a pattern of lines that mimic your own hair growth pattern while implanting pigment simultaneously. The result: natural looking brows that blend in with your existing brow hairs, and that require virtually no maintenance. With Pretty in the City being voted one of the best places for microblading in Canada and Toronto by Fashion Magazine and BlogTO, you know you're in the best of hands.
Ombre Powder Brows

Ombre Powder brows are just the opposite of a hair stroke brow done with the microblading technique. The end result is a soft powder shaded effect, much like the look of using brow powder. The artist is able to control the amount of colour deposited, from very light and soft colour, to much more bold, saturated colour. This technique is done with a permanent makeup machine. If you want soft, consistent pigment all school year long, Ombre Powder brows are for you! Or, if you can't decide between Ombre Powder or microblading services, opt for the combination brow, which uses both techniques for optimal results.

Eyeliner Tattoo
For eyeliner tattooing, colour is deposited along the lash line to create the effect of a full lash line. If you're looking for a bold result, extending the colour slightly above the lash line creates the look of permanent eyeliner. There are many variations to this enhancement, such as with a wing, without, soft or sharp edges. The end result is always the same - subtly enhanced, well-defined eyes without appearing obvious.
8. ANARA Denim
Jeans that are as good for your booty as they are for our planet. Meet A N A R A hemp denim - designed in Canada and ethically manufactured in Australia. While they may feel like your favourite pair of ultra-comfy, high-quality, every-day jeans, A N A R A denim is uniquely different. They use a fabric blend of over 50% hemp to reduce the global impact of their jeans, which means they're using way less water and land than all-cotton denim. As well, they've invested in bio-degradable packaging, use zero herbicides or pesticides, are vegan-friendly and are apart of the Fashion Revolution - advocating for fair pay and safe working conditions within the fashion industry. Plus hemp is 4x more durable than cotton, so you'll invest in one pair which you can love for years to come. Bye bye, fast fashion!
They've launched with one flagship style for women and one for men. The ladies are a high-waisted jean with a slim leg, classic royal blue wash, and, wait for it, real pockets. The men's jeans have a natural waist, a straight leg with a taper at the ankle, and are an indigo blue wash. Both featuring their mountain inspired stitch pattern on the back pocket and a vegan leather patch. Aiming to flatter multiple body types while offering a classic style that can be worn season after season.
Feel empowered. Live powerfully. #WearTheChange.

About: La Ceiba is a Toronto-based, all-natural skincare line. La Ceiba’s heritage is rooted in their advocacy against chemicals and their ongoing quest to find a healthier alternative for each skin care need, using one of the world’s oldest sciences: botany. At La Ceiba, their belief is that nature has all the answers. They want to enable you to engage in self-care with products that are handcrafted from nature’s most potent formulations, which they have hand-crafted using plants and natural oils. Their incredible products will bring you to the realization that nature is the only thing needed to nurture your skin.

At La Ceiba, they believe that skincare routines should be a soothing, luxurious way to begin and end your day, rather than a hastily done chore. Each step should bring a bit more magic to your face and body. La Ceiba believes in the sacredness of rituals, and that starting a personal skin care routine is a way to replenish and relax while reconnecting with yourself, as nature is the ultimate apothecary.

La Ceiba is also determined to incorporate sustainable practices into their each and every step. They use recyclable glass bottles and 100% recycled paper for their boxes, as well as plant-based biodegradable tape and recycled shipping labels. Everything used by La Ceiba is a conscious choice to incorporate sustainability into their manufacturing and shipping.

La Ceiba was founded by Merih Solaklar, who was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey, and moved to Toronto, Canada at the age of 19. Her journey into natural skincare began after taking a soap making workshop, during which she learned about the vast number of harsh chemicals and toxins used in our everyday skincare products. As our skin is our first line of defence, Merih realized that our skin needs to be protected from the various products that falsely claim to care for it. After studying the plants and oils of the Amazon and other Indigenous parts of the world, as well as analyzing, testing, and experimenting with different natural ingredients, her obsession with botany grew, leading to the establishment of La Ceiba Botanical Skincare.

La Ceiba products are available for purchase through their website, and can be shipped to Canada, the United States, and Turkey.

About: Mona Sharma is a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, Wellness Coach, and NLP practitioner based in L.A. and Toronto. She's a mother to Elijah and baby India, a wife to Craig, who is a film director, and the founder and CEO of Xicama™, an innovative line of functional food and beverage products that deliver the gut and immune boosting benefits of Jicama.

In her late twenties, while working a high-powered, high-stress role in the corporate beauty world, Mona began to experience chronic anxiety, severe digestive issues, and heart palpitations that persisted after two heart surgeries. After hitting rock bottom, she decided to switch gears and turn her attention to her personal health, returning to her roots of living on an Ashram with her parents. She began to make use of the tools she obtained on the Ashram, where emphasis was placed on bringing the mind and body back to balance through yoga, meditation, mantras, and Ayurvedic meals. After healing from her major health issues, Mona shifted her professional career toward health and wellness. She began working with professional athletes, celebrities, and CEO's to bring balance back to their lives, as well as peace and happiness back to their mindset, so they could thrive.

For over a decade, Mona has worked with clients on mind-body connection, the link between inflammation, gut health and vitality, and the foods that fuel optimal health. One day, while pregnant with baby India, Mona was eating Jicama in her kitchen with her husband, when they decided to pull out the juicer to make some Jicama juice. Aware of its benefits for gut health and immunity, they kept the conversation going, leading to the establishment of her own company, IQ Foods International— for which Xicama™, an innovative jicama-based food and beverage line, is the flagship brand.

Mona's philosophy is that it's time for us to take back our health, and decide that we are worth more than living with symptoms we've gotten used to. Food, meditation, and movement are the ultimate pillars to a vibrant mind and body for life.
