A message from Campus Life & Engagement, the one office dedicated to new McGill students.

Hi Campus Life & Engage!

This week, we’d like to formally invite you to GradLife Orientation (GLO) which serves as an online information hub on graduate life at McGill. GLO expands on the information we share in these emails, features interactive activities, and opportunities to win prizes! Ready to get started? You can access GLO in myCourses now.

Alongside GLO, we are running webinars every week throughout the summer on the services and resources available to you as a McGill graduate student. The full schedule can be found on the Your First Year at McGill website or in GLO. We’ll also be sending you webinar reminders - check out the “Attend” section of our emails!

Our first webinar will be GLO: Introduction to Grad Studies! Join us at one of these sessions to learn about graduate policies and the many important academic, career, health, and professional resources McGill provides to graduate students. We will also be sharing information on key aspects of the McGill graduate community. Join us on one of the following dates:

  • Tuesday, May 18 at 10 am EDT
  • Friday, May 21 at 12 pm EDT
  • Tuesday, May 25 at 6 pm EDT

Your Graduate Orientation Team at CL&E will be there to give you an introduction to graduate studies at McGill and answer any questions!

Take Note!

  1. GLO is accessible from myCourses, McGill’s learning management system (myCourses). Each module addresses one or more key topics such as graduate supervision, support services, and the the McGill graduate community.
  2. Complete GLO modules to collect awards before by 11:59PM Eastern time on August 31st to be entered into the prize draw! Each award you collect equals one entry into the draw.

If you haven’t already, take advantage of the 2021/22 Graduate Entering Class Facebook Group to connect with your peers!

We’re also hosting virtual socials for new graduate students throughout the summer! Come meet other incoming grad students next week at our Martlet Mixers and Faculty-specific Introductions! Zoom links and other details can be found on the Summer Socials page of Your First Year!

We’ll be back next week with information on technology and tools at McGill including how to register for courses on Minerva, how to use myCourses, and how to set up your McGill accounts! Until then, please reach out to us with any questions you may have about GLO, the first-year experience, or any other aspect of graduate life at McGill!

McGill University is located on land which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous peoples, including the Haudenosaunee (hoh-DEE-noh-SHoh-nee) and Anishinabeg (Ah-nish-ih-nah'-bey) nations. McGill honours, recognizes and respects these nations as the traditional stewards of the lands and waters on which we meet today.
