A message from Campus Life & Engagement, the one office dedicated to new McGill students.

Hi Campus Life & Engage,

This year’s Discover McGill Graduate Orientation is going to look different than it has in the past due to current public health recommendations—rather than a week of events in Montreal, Graduate Orientation will be virtual and accessible to students across the globe. Though events will be virtual, our team is working hard to provide fun, engaging opportunities so you can get to know your classmates and start navigating McGill. Scroll through this email for important updates and information on Graduate Orientation!

What is Discover McGill Graduate Orientation?

It’s nearly two weeks of events that take place during the days leading up to the beginning of classes. It’s an excellent opportunity for new graduate students to get to know:

  • the University,
  • the city of Montreal,
  • fellow graduate students.

Graduate Orientation will be held from Tuesday, August 18th to Thursday, August 27th. While we are still finalizing the schedule, you can look forward to:

  • Connecting with your peers and building your social network at Grads Connect (GX). Get to know each other, McGill, and key resources through team-based activities and challenges.
  • Learning about the resources and services critical to your success, getting the perspective and advice of returning graduate students and continuing to connect with peers across six full days of workshops, panels, and more!
  • Interacting directly with McGill services to learn about the resources, programs, and opportunities they offer to support graduate students at the Discover McGill Graduate Services Fair.

You will be hearing more from us in late July with registration information!

Students entering the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at Macdonald Campus will also be invited to attend Graduate Orientation events hosted by the Macdonald Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies and Macdonald Campus Graduate Students’ Society. Keep an eye on the Macdonald Campus Graduate Student Orientation page for updates!

McGill University is located on land which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabeg nations. McGill honours, recognizes and respects these nations as the traditional stewards of the lands and waters on which we meet today.
