Alexandra Bayne appointed as Managing Director, Human Resources at UBC Okanagan

Dear colleagues,

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Alexandra Bayne as Managing Director, Human Resources at UBC’s Okanagan campus. Already a member of the UBC Human Resources leadership team, Alex will be beginning her new role leading the Okanagan campus HR team on June 1, 2022.

Alex brings with her over 20 years of HR experience at UBC. Fittingly, earlier in her career, one of her major assignments was as part of the team which opened the Okanagan campus, where Alex led the workforce integration strategy and implementation as part of the transition of Okanagan University College’s North Kelowna campus to UBC Okanagan. Since then, Alex has taken on multiple roles within UBC HR based at the Vancouver campus, including as managing director since 2017, with responsibility for strategic workplace initiatives, learning and engagement.

Alex’s long history with UBC, her diverse experience within the Human Resources portfolio, and her foundational connections to the Okanagan campus position her extremely well to take on this leadership role.

Alex holds an MBA in human resources management from Royal Roads University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Victoria, in addition to multiple licences and certifications.

We’d like to thank the members of the search committee and the team at PFM Search for their contributions over the past several months in selecting Alex, after an extensive national search, from a pool of exceptionally well-qualified candidates. We would also like to thank and acknowledge the hard work of Kristin Cacchioni as interim executive director since the summer of 2021.

Please join us in welcoming Alex to the Okanagan campus leadership team and wishing her success in her new role.

Sincerely,

Lesley Cormack
Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Principal
UBC Okanagan

Adam Charania
Associate Vice-President, Human Resources
