Four Job Search Tips in the Age of Uncertainty

Only one thing seems certain these days, and that's uncertainty! If you are in the midst of a job search, things may seem especially unclear and disheartening. VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES

Message from Kelly Thompson, Assistant to the Director/ Coordinator of Volunteer & Community Support Services, Saint Antoine 50+ Community Centre:

During Covid-19 many of us are being called upon to support those most vulnerable in our community.  One of the most pressing needs is to provide food to our members. Hence, we have been delivering frozen meals to our members on Wednesdays. We have also been referring our seniors who  have shopping needs to an innovative company named Lulu.  This company has been doing shopping for our seniors and delivering the goods.  We have received amazing reviews from members who greatly appreciate the service. Lulu is in need of more support, and I wanted to reach out and share their request.  If you can help them that would be great, if you are already committed to us and other responsibilities in your life we understand.  I just wanted to let you know of this potential volunteering opportunity as a courtesy to Lulu.

Interested in volunteering for Lulu Events? Email covid-19@luluevenements.com!

Once again, thank you for supporting Saint-Antoine 50+ during these very difficult times.

Stay safe & positive!

Are you interested in volunteering and helping the Quebec Government tackle the COVID-19 pandemic? Various volunteering opportunities are available, visit https://www.jebenevole.ca/ for more information.

We are looking for volunteers who would like to help us sort and pack food for future distributions. This volunteer platform will be located at our Multiservice Pavilion in SAINT-HENRI (where the Marché Bon Accueil Saint-Henri is located). Rest assured, the distribution will be done only by Welcome Hall Mission employees and not by volunteers.

Our volunteer platform will be available starting Friday March 20th 2020 for an indefinite period of time. The schedule will be as follows:

Saint Henri Market

4755 Acorn Street, Montreal, QC, H4C, Saint Henri Neighborhood

WHAT ARE THE WORKING HOURS FOR VOLUNTEERING?

- Thursdays: 9:15am - 12pm // 1pm - 4pm

WHAT TASKS WILL I DO?

  • Volunteers will only work in the warehouse area to sort and package food for distributions to come.

WHAT ABOUT HEALTH AND SAFETY CONCERNS?

  • All persons entering will be asked to wash their hands for 20 seconds on arrival.
  • Volunteers will be placed at a safe distance of two (2) meters from each other and the number of people in each room will be limited.
  • The number of volunteers is limited for each shift.
  • Volunteers are assigned at different station to allow social distancing.
  • The distribution will be done outside the building. Clients will not have access to the entrance of the building. They will be lined up outside to receive goods. We wish to maintain the safety of our clients as well as volunteers by respecting social distancing.
  • We ask volunteers who are ill or have symptoms to stay at home until they have fully recovered.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Due to the health requirements established by the Government of Quebec to which we are required to comply, we are looking for volunteers:

  • Who have not returned from a trip abroad (outside of Canada), unless they have completed the 14-day quarantine since returning to Canada and are symptom-free;

  • If you know you have been in contact with people with COVID-19, please do not volunteer, even if you have no symptoms.
  • For operational reasons, we do not accept volunteers under the age of 16 and volunteers must agree to follow the safety rules in place.
