National Volunteer Week

If, as the Greek philosopher, Heraclitus said, “change is the only constant in life”, this year marks changes at lightening speed. Remote working, virtual interviews, and living closely with roommates, partners or family members, are just a few. Change has been at the center of almost every area of our lives. Yet, if there’s something that should remain, it is the acts of service from volunteers.

While we may be feeling restricted as the third wave of the global pandemic ripples in, there are plenty of opportunities to connect! Career Advising and Transition Services (CATS) invites you to celebrate the undeniable value of volunteers. In honor of this year’s Volunteers Canada National Volunteer Week, The Value of One, The Power of Many, individual and collective acts of bravery are recognized during this especially difficult year. We invite you to take a moment to paint a new picture in re-imagining how can we value the power of one, which inevitably enables us to grow together?

If you’re looking for a change and are intrigued by volunteering, join us! This week may even encourage you to shift from a state of captivity to liberation, and you may be inspired by speakers who will share insights on creative acts of service that you can participate in.

Join CATS in celebrating all acts of service from April 19 to 22, and learn about topics related to volunteering; prioritizing inclusive volunteer opportunities, looking at all sides of mutual aid, finding fulfillment through volunteering, skill-building by doing good, living with intentionality, and creating a culture of caring. We invite you to join us in celebrating, and in reflecting on how we can cultivate an attitude of service wherever we find ourselves in our career and in our lives.
