HOW WE ARE SUPPORTING OUR SENIORS

We would like to share with you some of the ways in which West Vancouver Seniors' Activity Centre staff will continue to support you during this challenging and unprecedented time.

West Vancouver Seniors' Help Line
604-925-7280

The West Vancouver Seniors' Help Line (604-925-7280) is currently up and running and will be staffed during the following days and times:

Monday to Thursday
8 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Friday
8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Saturday & Sunday
8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

As part of the Help Line our staff will be calling each and every one of our 4,000 Seniors' Activity  Centre members to make sure that they have the support, nourishment and services they need.

We are also calling every single member of the West Vancouver Community Centre and Gleneagles Community Centre who is over the age of 70. We are asking each person we connect with, if we can continue to do regular check-ins with them during this time.

Electronic devices (tablets/phones) for seniors

We are collecting and cleaning/disinfecting devices donated by the public to give to seniors who do not have access to a device to access the internet.

Online classes via Livestream and/or phone and Facebook Groups

We will be looking into offering some online classes via livestream and/or phone (where possible), and creating Facebook Groups for some of our programs and Keeping Connected outreach communities.

Additional details will be shared as they become available.

Book deliveries

We are working with the West Vancouver Memorial Library to deliver books and other library services to seniors.

Daily updates on community resources

We are providing seniors we connect with via the Help Line (and those seniors who contact us) with updates on resources available in the community, including specialty hours for seniors in grocery stores, special things happening at pharmacies, and much more.

We have one staff member dedicated to researching resources available in the community and sharing those with our Help Line staff, who in turn share these latest developments with each senior they call to check in with daily.

If you have any questions related to the above initiatives, please do not hesitate to call our Help Line at 604-925-7280.

Please know that we are here to support you every day! We are committed to working together and getting through this challenging time as fellow-neighbours and as a community.

You are not alone!
