New Opportunities



Advance UBC's Indigenous Strategic Plan through Research

The Indigenous Strategic Initiatives (ISI) Fund - Special Fund for Graduate Research will fund up to $30k per project for graduate students to conduct research that advances any of the ISI's 43 actions. Apply by July 28.



Synthesize Canada's Research Knowledge on Gender-Based Violence

In partnership with Women and Gender Equity Canada, SSHRC has launched a call for Knowledge Synthesis Grants to support research that synthesizes existing knowledge and identifies knowledge gaps on gender-based violence in Canada and that stimulates knowledge mobilization. Apply by Sept. 1.



Advance Knowledge in Health Research, Care, Systems or Outcomes

CIHR’s Project Grant supports fundamental or applied health-related research and knowledge-translation projects at any stage. Register by Aug. 17. Full application due Sept. 14.

Expanded EDI Self-Identification Questionnaire Requirement for CIHR Competitions

Applicants to CIHR’s competitions must complete an expanded EDI self-identification questionnaire on Research Net before applying to funding opportunities launched after June 29, 2022. Applicants have the option to select “I prefer not to answer” for any of the questions.



Platform Selected for Upcoming Tri-Agency Grants Management Solution

The Tri-Agency Grants Management Solution has selected Microsoft Power Platform to support the solution and will soon select a vendor to configure it. It's anticipated that approval from the Government of Canada will be sought late this fiscal year. New Alliance Grants Web Guide

The guide will assist UBC applicants for NSERC Alliance grants to understand partnership requirements and determine partner eligibility. It also explains NSERC cost-sharing with budgeting examples and provides strategic advice on completing the proposal template sections.
