Apply to Join a CIHR Institute Advisory Board
Twelve of the CIHR institutes seek new advisory board members to advise on institute-specific issues and cross-institute initiatives, including deliberations of health research priorities and implementation plans for engaging the broader research community. New members can serve three-year terms beginning Sept. 1. Application deadline Apr. 12.


Join CIHR's Standing Committee on Ethics
Researchers and scholars with relevant expertise from any discipline of the humanities or life sciences are welcome. Application deadline Apr. 22.


Share your Feedback on CIHR's Sex & Gender Training Modules
CIHR's Institute of Gender and Health invites feedback on its online training to ensure that the modules reflect current knowledge and best practices. Survey closes Apr. 30.



Grant Extensions Available for Research Interruptions Due to COVID-19
UBC is authorized to grant 12-month, no-cost extensions to eligible NSERC and SSHRC grants that are in their final year to grant recipients who request them due to COVID-19. See eligibility details and instructions to make a request: NSERC | SSHRC. Further questions can be directed to the Vancouver and Okanagan Offices of Research Services.



Unlock the Power of Data and AI to Address Humanitarian Challenges
Submissions are welcomed for projects as part of the Microsoft AI for Good initiative, which will provide access to Azure, data science services and Azure engineering support. Proposal deadline May 31.

Faculty Research Awards Recipients Announced

Awards were bestowed upon 24 faculty members across both UBC campuses.


Inaugural Killam Accelerator Fellowship Recipients Announced
Six recipients from both UBC campuses were recognized for outstanding research achievement and the potential for significant impact in their fields.


2021 Killam Postdoctoral Fellow Research Prizes Announced
The awards recognize excellence in research among postdoctoral fellows. This year's recipients come from the faculties of science and medicine.


UBC Researchers Receive CIHR Funding

Thirteen projects led by researchers at UBC or its affiliated health-authority research institutes were awarded nearly $1 million in supplementary funding for rapid response research to address new coronavirus variants (details). Six other projects received $1.9 million to further COBID-19 understanding and tackle evidence gaps (details).

UBC Researchers Attract $25.6M through CIHR Project Grants Fall 2020 Competition
41 projects led by UBC researchers received a total of $25.6 million. Project areas include type 1 diabetes, perinatal anxiety disorders, childhood arthritis and more.

Canada’s Research Funding Agencies Launch Research Data Management (RDM) Policy

The Tri-Agencies plan to implement the policy incrementally through an ongoing engagement process. Resources are available for UBC researchers through Advanced Research Computing (ARC), UBC Library and the Office of the Chief Information Officer. See ARC site for more details.


New Resources to Support the Responsible Conduct of Research at UBC
A new website to support the responsible conduct of research is now available. The website includes information and discussion resources around key pillars of responsible research and introduces some of the new and evolving topics in this area.
