Support for New Faculty in the Social Sciences, Humanities, and Creative & Performing Arts

UBC's Hampton Fund New Faculty Grants support tenure-track assistant professors that were hired at UBC within the last 20 months, for the early stages of research projects that have strong alignment with SSHRC subject matter eligibility. Questions can be. directed to SPARC. Application deadline Sept. 1.



Share Your Feedback on CIHR's Post-COVID-19 Peer Review Process

The Canadian Institutes of Health Research seeks feedback on the future of the peer review process, including virtual, hybrid or face-to-face formats. Survey closes Aug. 6.


Gain Insight, Mentorship on Peer-Review Processes
The Reviewer in Training Program allows early-career researchers to receive mentorship and participate directly in the peer-review process of the Project Grant Program. Note the new eligibility considerations due to COVID-19. Apply by Aug. 20.



Explore New Research Methodologies in the Pandemic Context

Funding to explore time-sensitive, high-risk/high-reward research with new methodologies, particularly in community and field-based research is available through the NFRF Special Call: 2021 Innovative Approaches to Research in the Pandemic Context. Notice of intent deadline Sept. 21. Full applications due Oct. 26.



Develop Challenge-Oriented, Community-Led or -Based Intersectional Research

The Race, Gender and Diversity Initiative will support formal partnerships with one or more non-academic partners to support connection, research and training activities addressing systemic racism and discrimination of underrepresented or disadvantaged groups. Application deadline Nov. 15.

New Risk Assessment Requirements for NSERC Alliance Applications

NSERC Alliance Grant applications with a private sector partner (including applications currently under review) must now include a risk assessment questionnaire completed by the researcher and, if necessary, a risk mitigation plan.



New Application Portal for VPRI Internal Competitions

Applicants to upcoming internal funding competitions offered by the VP Research & Innovation Office will benefit from a new streamlined application and review portal. UBC Research and Innovation Apply allows research teams to develop applications collaboratively and to save draft versions before submission.
