Lend your Voice to UBC's Upcoming Research Data Management Strategy

UBC is developing a Research Data Management (RDM) strategy to align with the Tri-Agency Policy on RDM, UBC’s strategic plan and the UBC Indigenous Strategic Plan. A virtual town hall will be held, followed by themed focus groups to gather input from the research community.
Town hall: Oct. 19. Focus groups: Nov. 16 (NSERC), Nov. 18 (SSHRC), Jan. 12 (CIHR),
Jan. 14 (Indigenous Data).


Build or Strengthen Research Collaborations with UBC Vancouver

Collaborative Research Mobility Awards provide up to $5,000 to support travel, equipment or other partnership costs for new or existing collaborations between UBC researchers in the Okanagan and Vancouver. Apply by Nov. 5.


Extend Your Humanities Research to New Communities

The UBCO Public Humanities Hub's Public Engagement Fund supports high-quality, faculty-led research dissemination activities designed to engage participation within and/or beyond the university. Application due Nov. 1.


Support Research-Related Workshops Among Humanities and Social Science Scholars

The UBCO PHH Workshop Grant supports research-related workshops expected to benefit the broader public of scholars, students, and/or community members in humanities and social sciences. Deadline Nov. 1.



Help Remove Barriers to Accessibility & Inform Initiatives to Address Systemic Ableism in Health Research

The Canadian Institutes of Health Research invite expressions of interest to join the External Advisory Community on Accessibility & Systemic Ableism. CIHR encourages individuals who have diverse experience with disability or accessibility, including health researchers living with disabilities, leaders from disability communities, accessibility advocates and experienced allies, to apply. The deadline to apply is Oct. 28.


Support Indigenous Community-led COVID-19 Research Responses and Knowledge Translation

Rapid Response funding is available for timely distinctions-based research and knowledge mobilization that is responsive to the unique circumstances and the current phase of the COVID-19 pandemic in First Nations, Inuit, Métis and urban Indigenous communities in Canada. Register by Nov. 9. Full application due Dec. 7.



Contribute your Insights to the OECD International Survey of Science

The ISSA aims to provide a timely picture of the state of science to complement other available statistical evidence and indicators and provide new insights that inform science policy around the world. Survey closes late November.

MSFHR Funds Knowledge Translation Activities for 19 Teams led by UBC Researchers

Fourteen teams led by UBC researchers received funding through the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research's Convening & Collaborating (C2) Program and a further five teams received funding through MSFHR's Reach Program.


Three Faculty Members Inducted as Fellows of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences

Election to Fellowship in the CAHS is considered one of the highest honours for individuals in the Canadian health sciences community.


UBC Early-Career Health Researchers and Research Trainees Supported by MSFHR Awards

The Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research announced funding to 86 recipients conducting research at institutions across BC. This includes 18 awards to UBC faculty members through the Scholar Program and 43 awards to UBC research trainees.

Drs. Jodey Castricano and Jessica Stites-Mor will head up the UBCO hub, whose mission is to extend the UBC research cluster strategy to foster research excellence and develop humanities collaborations with public-facing research and programming.
