Collaborate with Municipal Departments on Climate and Sustainability Projects

This year, the inaugural City of Kelowna and UBCO Partnership Fund Special Call supports one or two-year research projects pertaining to two climate and sustainability-related challenges. Funding up to $30,000 per year is available. Teams must include a UBC faculty lead and a City of Kelowna operational staff lead. Apply by submitting your Letter of Intent by Jul. 4.


Support Health and Medicine Graduate Trainees to Collaborate with Okanagan Clinicians

The Pritchard Fellowships support UBCO undergraduate and graduate students in disciplines related to medicine and health to undertake clinical research projects in collaboration with Okanagan-region clinicians. Principal Investigators are invited to apply to fund students working on new or existing projects by Jul. 15.


Offset Your Research Costs to Develop or Complete Social Sciences or Humanities Research Projects

From the SSHRC Institutional Grant fund, the Vice-Principal, Research & Innovation (Okanagan), is launching a new round of the SSHRC Explore and Exchange Grants to support funding of up to $7,000 to develop or complete outputs in social sciences and humanities research. Apply by Aug 31.



Share Your Input About Respectful and Equity-Oriented Collection and Use of Disaggregated Data

UBC Health invites researchers to identify resources that can support them in applying respectful and equity-addressing principles in collecting and using disaggregated data. Feedback deadline Jun. 30.


Receive Support to Launch Your Social Sciences or Humanities Research Program at UBC

The Hampton New Faculty Grant supports the early stages of research programs for assistant, associate and full professors new to UBC who were hired in the last 24 months. Apply by Sep. 1.




Undertake High-Risk, High-Reward and Interdisciplinary Research

NFRF's Exploration Stream seeks to inspire innovative projects not easily supported through funding opportunities currently offered by the Tri-Agencies. Submit Notices of Intent by noon, Jun. 27. Sponsor NOI deadline Jun. 28. Full application due Sep. 13.


Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions

Collaborate to Deliver Near-Term Climate Mitigation or Adaptation Solutions

PICS' Opportunity Projects Program encourages research teams to take bold but calculated risks in pursuit of high-impact results in climate change mitigation or adaptation. Funding of up to $180,000 is available per project. Full proposal deadline Aug. 3.



Address Complex Issues and Further Collective Understanding with Social Sciences or Humanities Research

SSHRC's Insight Grants support emerging and established scholars to undertake research initiatives of two to five years with award values ranging between $7000 and $400,000. Sponsor deadline Oct. 1.


Help Identify Barriers to Accessibility in SSHRC Programs

Researchers from a wide range of lived experiences and personal identifications, including regional and linguistic diversities, are invited to join SSHRC's Committee to Address Barriers to Accessibility. Expressions of interest are due Jun. 9.
