Offset Costs of Scholarly Publication

The Scholarly Publication Fund provides partial subsidies toward the cost of publishing scholarly works in SSHRC disciplines. Priority will be given to scholarly works where subventions are required for publication. The next application deadline is Jun. 15.


Support to Publish in Open Access Publications

The Open Access Fund for Humanities and Social Sciences Research provides support to cover the fees (article processing charges) associated with publishing in open access journals and books. Applications open.


Genome BC & IAF

Address Genomic Innovations to Reduce Environmental Impacts

The Genomic Innovation for Regenerative Agriculture, Food, and Fisheries will fund projects that will provide genomic solutions to support the BC agriculture, food, and fisheries sectors in addressing climate change. Letter of Intent due May 10.



Accelerate the Development of Technology and Promote its Transfer to Canadian Companies

Idea to Innovation (I2I) grants support research and development projects with the potential to create technology transfer. Full application due Jun. 27.


Develop Collaborations as part of Canada's National Quantum Strategy

Four new funding opportunities are available through the Alliance and CREATE programs to develop domestic and international collaborations in quantum science and technology. Applications are now open.



Promote Training, Research, and Connection Activities in the Social Sciences and Humanities

SSHRC’s Partnership Engage Grants provide short-term and timely support for partnered research activities that will inform decision-making at a single, non-academic partner organization from the public, private, or not-for-profit sector. Full application due Jun. 15.


Exchange Knowledge and Engage in Outreach Activities in the Social Sciences and Humanities

Connection Grants support events and outreach activities geared toward short-term targeted knowledge mobilization initiatives. Full Application due Aug. 1.




Establish Your Natural Sciences or Engineering Research Program

NSERC's Discovery Grant program offers grants-in-aid for long-term research objectives of ongoing programs in the natural sciences and engineering. Notice of intent due Aug. 2. Full application due Nov. 1.


Transcend Disciplines in Natural Sciences and Engineering Research
NSERC's Discovery Horizons pilot grants will fund individual or team-based projects that broadly integrate or transcend disciplines and that would benefit from a tri-agency interdisciplinary peer review. Letter of intent deadline Jun. 16.


Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships

Support Top Talent to Come to UBC for Postdoctoral Research

UBC conducts an internal competition to endorse applications to the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship –Canada's most prestigious trainee competition for postdoctoral fellows. UBC internal application deadline Jul. 13.



Apply Your Research to Provide Potential Solutions to Defence and Security Challenges

The Innovation for Defense Excellence and Security Program has launched four new challenges under its Competitive Projects element covering a wide scope, from the arctic domain, space-based surveillance/reconnaissance and the preservation of wildlife. Proposals due May 31.
