New Opportunities



Apply for High-Performance Computing Priority Allocation

Researchers can apply for priority access to CPU and GPU resources and up to 50 TB of project storage and up to 50 TB of scratch space through ARC Sockeye. Apply by May 7. Applications for standard computing allocations to Sockeye and storage allocations on Chinook are accepted on an ongoing basis.



Environment and Climate Change Canada

Identify, Accelerate and Evaluate Solutions to Achieve Net-Zero GHGs by 2050

The Climate Action and Awareness Fund supports Canadian-made projects that help to reduce Canada's greenhouse gas emissions. A request for proposals is now open for the Advancing Climate Change Science and Technology priority area. Letter of intent due Jun 10.



Support for Interdisciplinary Research in Natural Sciences and Engineering
NSERC's Discovery Horizons pilot grants will fund individual or team-based projects that broadly integrate or transcend disciplines and that would benefit from a tri-agency interdisciplinary peer review. Review of LOIs is available before May 26 via Alex Unterberger (UBCV SPARC) or Denise Maines (UBCO ORS). Letter of intent deadline Jun. 15.


Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships

Support Top Talent to Come to UBC for Postdoctoral Research

UBC conducts an internal competition to endorse applications to the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship –Canada's most prestigious trainee competition for postdoctoral fellows. UBC internal application deadline Jul. 11.



Bridge Gaps Between Health Research and its Implementation

The Health Professional-Investigator Program (HP-I) supports health professionals to conduct and apply research relevant to health and/or the health system. Letter of intent deadline Jun 4. Full application due Aug. 20. Vancouver | Okanagan

Community-University Engagement Support Fund Recipients Announced

Community organizations and UBC researchers are partnering to address issues such as gender-based violence, digital archaeology, local food procurement, and more.


UBC Continues to Be a Global Leader in Impact
UBC placed 13th globally in the overall THE Impact Rankings for its efforts towards United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and first in SDG 9 which captures research on industry and innovation, industry engagement and the number of patents and spin-off companies.

New Approach to Coordinating Institution-Wide Surveys

The university has established a survey governance committee to manage a consistent and coordinated approach to UBC surveys, prioritizing those used for academic research, institutional surveys and those supporting UBC's strategic priorities. All surveys intended for broad distribution to the university community will now require approval by the committee before being deployed.
