startGBC Work Integrated Learning Program | Open to Students Requiring Co-op Placement


startGBC Work Integrated Learning Entrepreneurship Program


startGBC Work Integrated Learning Entrepreneurship Program might be the solution for you if you have considered starting your own business and are looking for an alternative work-integrated learning experience (co-op placement). Starting on May 17, 2021, we have a 12-week program that begins with two, 3-hour workshop sessions per week for the first 6-weeks. For the following 6 weeks, you will be working on your business/social innovation idea in collaboration with students from across the college.

GBC students won a combined $10,000 for their entrepreneurial ideas at the annual Pitch It! competition hosted by startGBC. For May 2021 spotlight we are proud to present our winner of the for-profit stream- Kat Feldman.

Kat Feldman is an experienced designer and the founder of Box of 6ix. She was featured on CityTV's Breakfast Television as well as the News segment around the holidays.


What is one piece of advice you would give to aspiring entrepreneurs?

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is seeking the design and production of an inclusive respiratory protection option that can be safely used by front-line police officers who have facial hair for religious, cultural, medical and/or gender identity reasons. An innovation in this field would be a breakthrough, and address systemic barriers faced by Canadian first responders.
