Indigenous Economic Development
During June, we commemorate National Indigenous History Month, commemorating the history, heritage, diversity, and contributions of Canadians who identify as members of the Indigenous community. startGBC is highlighting the Economic Development Fund for Indigenous entrepreneurs. This fund provides grants and financing to Indigenous entrepreneurs, businesses, communities, and organizations.

OUT for Business | Youth Entrepreneurs
June is Pride Month, where Canadians who identify as members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community are celebrated. If you are an LGBT+ entrepreneur (between the ages of 18-39) with a registered business, CGLCC’s OUT for Business initiative can provide you with the support and guidance to grow your business. This nationwide program supports a select group of LGBT+ youth entrepreneurs each year.

Janine Kwok has a degree in Design from OCAD University majoring in Illustration. And she's a recent graduate of the Design Management Program at George Brown College.
What is one piece of advice you would give to aspiring entrepreneurs?

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is seeking the design & production of an inclusive respiratory protection option that can be used by police officers who have facial hair for religious, cultural, medical &/or gender identity reasons. An innovation in this field would address systemic barriers faced by Canadian first responders.

A key factor in achieving this target is the integration of latest technologies and solutions originating from the global start-up community.
