How does misinformation spread? Why do people believe it? What can we do as individuals and a community to fight back?

You’re invited to join health and science expert Professor Timothy Caulfield on Wednesday, October 7, for a session on the causes of, dangers from, and possible solutions to misinformation during this moment. He says COVID-19 isn’t just a pandemic, it’s an “infodemic.” Rampant spread of bad science, conspiracy theories, fake cures, and outright lies have led to confusion, distraction, and even physical harm. In this presentation, Prof. Caulfield will help you understand how all this misinformation has spread so quickly, and offer tools you can use to spot it and help put a stop to it.

You will learn:

  • How to recognize possible health and science misinformation.
  • Important facts regarding the known science of COVID-19.
  • About the possible dangers of unproven “alternative medicine.”
  • How to find trusted and reliable sources of information.
